ILLUSTRATIVE PROJECTS

From a problem to a plan.

These are example scenarios, not completed customer installations. They show how priorities, privacy and fallback choices shape an automation concept.

EXAMPLE 01 · AN ONTARIO HOME

Know about a basement leak before it becomes damage.

The need

Someone is away from home during the day. A water heater and laundry area are out of sight. They want a useful alert, not a stream of routine notifications.

The concept

Place water sensors where a leak would first collect. Add a local audible alarm and a remote alert path. Map the router, hub and battery dependency.

The check

Test a wet sensor and a disconnected internet connection. Verify the alert reaches the right person and define a response plan, including a trusted local contact.

This is a hypothetical design exercise. Sensor placement, coverage and shutoff options require an on site review.

EXAMPLE 02 · EVERYDAY COMFORT

A room that feels right without constant adjustment.

The need

An upstairs bedroom gets too warm at night. The homeowner wants a calmer routine without buying a new thermostat on guesswork.

The concept

Measure actual bedroom temperature and humidity, inspect airflow and sunlight, then decide whether shading, scheduling or equipment changes are warranted.

The check

Compare several ordinary days and confirm the system still operates safely when a controller or network is unavailable.

A room sensor cannot solve every airflow or insulation issue. HVAC changes need an equipment specific assessment.

EXAMPLE 03 · ENTRY AND PRIVACY

See the doorstep without watching the neighbourhood.

The need

A household wants useful parcel and visitor events while avoiding unnecessary recording of public areas and neighbours.

The concept

Choose a camera view for the actual question, use detection zones and privacy masks, and decide who can access footage and for how long.

The check

Walk through a normal visit, a parcel delivery and an internet interruption. Review missed events and false alarms before relying on notifications.

Local privacy rules and a property specific camera view need review before installation.
